What are ERNs

European Reference Networks (ERNs) are networks established to share knowledge on rare and complex diseases.
Thanks to ERNs, patients suffering from rare and complex diseases are able to benefit from the best treatment and medical care available in the EU for their specific disease. Doctors can rub shoulders with pools of highly specialised colleagues from all over Europe.

The ISNB is a member of EpiCARE, the European network for rare and complex epilepsies.

The EpiCARE network and the ISNB Epilepsy Centre

The ISNB Epilepsy Centre is one of 28 European centres that are part of EpiCARE, the network of professionals dedicated to rare epilepsies recognised by the European Union. Coordinated by Paolo Tinuper, the ISNB Epilepsy Centre is the only Italian reference centre not only for paediatric age, but also for adult age.
Some epilepsies are so rare and complex that they require the patient to be taken care of by highly specialised and interconnected centres, so that professionals can share their experience and make it available to patients.
